For a non-refundable $3.00 fee we will actively search the inventories of several
thousand distributors for your book. We search until we find an acceptable copy of the book, or two months, whichever comes first.
Just tell us as the author and title, and we do the rest! You may also specify any other preferences you may have
such as hardcover or paperback, edition, translation, condition, approximate maximum cost, etc..
We have to charge an upfront fee because, well, the book industry isn't exactly easy to
navigate - as you have probably discovered! It's a labor intensive process to research the availability and pricing of these books.
We let you know the price and condition. If you don't want the copy we have found, we will continue looking for the
duration of the 2 month period. If you decide you want the book, you pay us a deposit of at least 50%, and then we order it from our distributor.
This deposit can only be refunded if the book is not in the described condition, or if it gets lost in the mail.
Once we receive the book, we examine it for quality, and then send it to you.
To be honest, it can take a while. But it's worth it if you end up with the book you're looking for. Unfortunately, the
slowdown is something we cannot control. It takes time to search the inventories, and time to get the book from the distributors.
It can take up to two weeks for the distributor to send the book to us. Once we have it, we send it to you as soon as possible.
Please understand there are no guarantees we will find your book. The $3.00 search fee is nonrefundable regardless of whether we find the book or not.
In most cases, we do find a copy in the condition you describe, but we can't promise it will be for the price you are willing to pay.
Out-of-print and unusual books can be rare and therefore expensive, both for us and you.
We cannot predict ahead of time, we just don't know until we look.
We will offer to place your request in our no cost Used Book Requests database. These are requests for books we keep on file until and if the
books are purchased by our used book department. This does not mean we order it for you. This means, that if in the normal course of
purchasing used books we happen to come across this title, we will offer it to you before putting it out for public sale.

We do not actively search books of local (Utah) interest or LDS titles, as we have a steady stream of these books coming into our store
each week and can more easily serve the public by way of our free Used Book Request service.
If a you have already Special Ordered (SPO) a new book known to be in print and we cannot find it, we will offer
to perform the Active Search at no cost.
